National Archives Online Catalogue

Welcome to the online catalogue of the National Archives where you can access descriptions of catalogued archival material. While some records have associated images, most of the records themselves cannot be viewed online. However, you are welcome to visit our Reading Room and consult these records provided you hold a valid reader’s ticket.

The majority of the descriptions in the catalogue consist of records of government departments and the courts and represent a selection of our holdings. Those records which are not yet in the catalogue can be accessed using the hardcopy finding aids in our Reading Room. Record descriptions are continually added to the catalogue as collections become available so please check our homepage for updates.
